BELENOS SKIN BOTANIQUE
I chanced upon this Indie Organic Brand, that makes the most passionate products… Each bottle looks and feels more luxe than the price tag indicates.*
Ethos: The brand ethos is to focus solely on skincare that are ingredients driven and every ingredient in their bottle has a purpose.
Let’s talk about the packaging shall we? It is simple minimal black on white label making them gender neutral (yayy!!) The body butter and the clay wash and creams come in weighty glass bottles. They are organic, ethical, eco friendly, cruelty-free and ( they even have a feng shui range )are handmade in the UK. They have lots of oils and mostly natural ingredients.
The range is nice and curated but they are expanding to include a beard oil and a few other exciting things soon.
I have been been been lucky to try and buy some of their goods and comparing these these to some pricier alternatives have come away suitably impressed. Don’t you love it when the results are exactly what they state on the tin?
I have tried their trio of balms ( £5.65)
They come in three variants Healing, Honest, Rescue( pic in featured image) all retailing for £5.65 and come in this cute tin which makes the highly effective product ( i used this on my dry chapped nose after a cold, my kids sore hands when they played outside , even on my peeling face after a course of retinol…and each time it melted away and moisturised) A great stocking filler too. It is a compressed oil, so a slight amount of oiliness is to be expected. But it does absorb quickly and leave you feeling hydrated. Plus I said it before I know…packaging ? Cute… End of.
The Repair Ultra Serum (£8.60)
I love this bright orange gorgeous smelling oil with Rose and Neroli amongst other ingredients. I’m not sure why its called a serum, it feels like an oil. In particular, it feels like a nighttime oil to me, in its wear. But oh my skin loves it, and even though its been oily lately ( more on that soon) this doesn’t exacerbate it. My skin feels plumped and hydrated and this sinks in( its not a dry oil though, so my skin does still have a slight oil slip to it)soon enough. The gorgeous bright hue is a natural colour, and it also happens to smell divine, and this never hurts.
The Clay cleansing face melt/wash (£9.00)
This is a lovely pink clay balm that emulsifies upon contact with a warm flannel and washes away. I love it, though it does leave a slight film on the skin if not washed away with warm water, on my skin, lukewarm doesn’t cut it. It has a melting consistency that consists of organ, shea, lavender and elemi ( lavender can be an irritant to some so buyer beware. This having said you can send anything back if its causing a reaction -30 days is a generous and ample returns policy time limit.)
The Monoi Body Butter (£9.00)
I love, love love this. It contains green tea, shea and monoi oil but I think the rest of the ingredients must spell M.A.G.I.C… This stuff is solid in the jar, melts upon contact with your hands, and sinks into the body leaving it velvety soft. I know I sound like a paid informercial so I feel like I should shut up…but I have dry skin and suffer with Keratosis Pilaris ( aka Chicken skin…lovely I know, this really helps smoothen those bumpy areas and along with cream containing an Alpha Hydroxy Acid, I have been suffering with smooth arms…I’m not complaining)
My final Thoughts:
The above products are what I trialled and used for a good few months. There are others in this range, what is particularly notable is their amazing customer service, their knowledge of their product and also they give great unbiased advice as to what would suit your skin. The men’s range is lovely for the men in our lives who must get FOMO from our beauty buying. They also have a very generous 30 days return policy, and a lovely person at the end of the phone (usually their founder Rhian) whom you can chat to and ask advice.
No individual product is more than £10, this makes it well within the price range of the average consumer. It is so nice to see local brands go down this route ( bearing in mind that it’s high quality organic ingredients and essential oils we are talking about here.) There are sets retailing at £23, but even this seems reasonable. Plus the Feng shui Set ( I have my eye on you…) is so beautifully packaged that I’m hoping I’m on Santa’sNice list this year…
Have you tried anything from this brand? I would love to hear your thoughts~ Love Elle xx
